With a collection of over 300,000 works of art, the Art Institute
of Chicago is world renowned as a first class musuem of art. Within
the public exhibitions are such treasures as A Sunday Afternoon
on La Grand Jatte 1884 by Georges Seurat, American Gothic
by Grant Wood, Nighthawks by Edward Hopper, and 33 paintings
by Claude Monet. The Art Institute's collection of 19th-century
French painting is also recognised as among the World's best.
The Art Institute of Chicago is located at 111 South Michigan Avenue
in a building built for the World's Columbian Exposition and the
home of the art museum since 1893. Entry to the gallery is free
